There are 3 airports on the the Mediterranean island of Cyprus.
You can enter North Cyprus directly via Ercan International Airport Ercan (ECN), which is near Nicosia and approximately 40km from Kyrenia/Girne.  There is normally a brief stopover in Turkey on the way to Ercan and, there is no need to leave the plane.

Public transport in North Cyprus is available in the form of mini buses known as a Dolmuş.  Prices are inexpensive at approximately 25 TLl - 30 TL for a local trip. The services are limited and do not go to all villages or tourist spots.  Best advice is to hire a car so as to visit the main attractions of Cyprus.   You should be able to spot a Dolmuş (bus) easily, as they are white mini buses with the destination written over the windscreen.  If you find a bus stop you can wait here, but you can flag them down at any point on the road.  Buses between the main centres (eg: Girne and Lefkosa) do not run to a fixed timetable, they run about every 20 to 30 minutes, when passenger numbers are sufficient.  Be aware that not all services run late in the evenings.
